Associate Professor Marion Saville - Executive Director of VCS Incorporated

Associate Professor Saville is the Executive Director of VCS Incorporated.
Associate Professor Saville is a cytopathologist with special expertise in gynaecological cytology, having trained at the Northwestern University, School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois and with Professor Jan Silverman, then at the University of East Carolina. She is a past president of both the Australian and New Zealand Societies of Cytology. She chaired the Board of Examiners for the Australian Society from 2009 until 2013. She is an author on numerous peer reviewed publications. Associate Professor Saville has served on a number of cervical screening advisory committees in Australia and most recently was a member of the Renewal steering committee, a group established by the Australian Government to provide guidance to the Screening Subcommittee on the future of the National Cervical Screening programme.

Dr Siew Chin Lian
Dr Siew Chin Lian - Managing Pathologist

Dr Siew Chin Lian graduated with an MBBS from the National University of Singapore and trained in anatomical pathology at the Singapore General Hospital. She completed a one year post-doctoral Fellowship at the Department of Pathology, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 1993. She obtained the FRCPA in 1998, and specialised in Gynaecologic pathology at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. Siew Chin has been the Managing Pathologist at the VCS since 2008.

Dr Kristy Dundas
Dr Kristy Dundas - Pathologist

Dr Kristy Dundas graduated in medicine from Melbourne University and subsequently trained in anatomical pathology at the Austin, Alfred and Royal Women’s Hospitals. She then pursued her interest in Cytology as a Fellow at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver, Canada before returning to Melbourne as a consultant Pathologist at Cytopath, a practice specialising in gynaecological cytology and histology. Having worked in the private sector for several years she then visited the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Here she gained further experience in gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology before joining VCS in early 2002.

Dr Karen Talia - Pathologist

MBBS(Hons), FRCPA

Dr Karen Talia is an anatomical pathologist with expertise in gynaecological pathology and cytopathology. She completed a Fellowship in Cytopathology at VCS in 2002 and has subsequently worked in both private practice and public teaching hospitals in Melbourne, where she is involved in Anatomical Pathology Registrar teaching. Dr Talia has served as the State Councillor for the Australian Society of Cytology from 2016 - 2019. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals in the field of gynaecological pathology.

Dr Koh Fong Seen - Pathologist

MB BS, FRCPA

Dr Koh Fong Seen graduated with an MBBS from The University of Adelaide and obtained her FRCPA in 2019. She was trained in Anatomical Pathology predominantly at The Wollongong Hospital. She is passionate with medical student education and has been involved as a Clinical Examiner and Lecturer at the Post Graduate Medical Program, The University of Wollongong. She worked in various public hospitals and private laboratories with experiences in gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology, and surgical pathology.

Dr Sophie Bittinger - Pathologist

MBBS FRCPA

Dr Sophie Bittinger graduated from Melbourne University in 2000 and trained in anatomical pathology at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Royal Children’s hospital and Monash medical centre.
She completed pathology training in 2009 and has worked as an anatomical pathologist at RWH since then. Sophie has also worked as a senior lecturer at Monash University.
Her main areas of interest are cervical pathology and gynaecological cancers.
She is am a member of the international gynaecological cancer society and the international society of gynaecological pathologists.

Associate Professor Kais Kasem - Pathologist

MBChB, PgDip, PhD, FRCPA

Dr Kais Kasem is an Associate Professor in clinical pathology at University of Melbourne and leads the pathology discipline teaching for the Doctor of Medicine program. Kais is a surgical pathologist who trained in Queensland hospitals and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2016. He holds a PhD degree in molecular pathology of cancer and has discovered the role of a new tumour suppressor gene in colorectal cancer. He has an interest in skin and gastrointestinal pathology, as well as gynaecological cytology and histopathology. He is an author on numerous peer reviewed publications in surgical pathology, molecular pathology and medical education.

Dr Yi Qiu Sun - Pathologist

BMedSci, MBBS, PgDip(Surg Anat), DipRCPath, FRCPA

Dr Yi Qiu Sun completed her medical degree from the University of Melbourne and a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy from Monash University prior to gaining comprehensive clinical experiences in major public hospitals in Melbourne and regional Victoria. She completed her training in anatomical pathology and cytopathology, gathering experience from major centres in Sydney (Westmead Hospital, Liverpool Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital) and in Melbourne (Royal Women’s Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital), with a fellowship year in St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and a Certificate in Molecular Pathology from the Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne and founded the Apollo Health Music Society in 2002 to encourage health science students to engage the community in promoting health through music.
